What it covers

FTMO runs no codes: open it through the XSR partner link, nothing to type, same price as the site. Its site takes 20% off the $100K 1-Step automatically (€499 → €399, about $562 → $450) and about 19% off the $100K 2-Step (€540 → €439, about $609 → $495), only if you have no such challenge active. Other sizes and FTMO Futures are full price.

What the firm is, who it suits, and what you will trade it on.

XSR summary

FTMO, based in Prague and running evaluations since 2015, is one of the largest firms in the industry. Its CFD challenges are one-time purchases with no deadline: the 2-Step (10% then 5%, a static 10% max loss, fee refunded with your first reward) or the 1-Step (10% target, 3% daily loss, a max loss that trails your best midnight balance, a 50% best-day rule, 90% split, no refund). CFD fees are set in euros, so the dollar price moves with the exchange rate. Since September 2026 FTMO also sells FTMO Futures, a monthly CME subscription. The catches: funded Standard accounts carry news and weekend restrictions, and the 1-Step max loss keeps trailing.

Watch out for

A 10% first-stage target is the steepest here, and stage two adds another 5%.

FTMO challenges and prices

Pick a program and a size. Every number is the firm's list price and rule before any code.

FTMO's classic route: the FTMO Challenge (10%), then Verification (5%), each with at least 4 trading days and no deadline. It is the only product with a refundable fee and the only one offering the Swing account type. Fees are set in euros (€89 / €250 / €345 / €540 / €1,080), converted here at the ECB rate of 6 October 2026. Paid once per attempt.

The loss limit is measured from your starting balance and never moves. The most forgiving of the three.

Illustration: a made-up path held to this account's real limits. Stage 2 target: +$2,500.

Once you are funded

After FTMO Identity (KYC) and the FTMO Account Agreement you trade an FTMO Account: no target, the same 5% daily and static 10% max loss. The fee comes back with your first reward, and rewards can be left in the account as a buffer. Standard accounts must avoid restricted news and close before weekends; Swing accounts need not. Every 4 months, 10% profit and 2 rewards add 25% to the balance.

FTMO rules, in plain words

Most dangerous first. Each one says what the rule is, how it is measured, and what it looks like on a real account.

4 Strict3 Watch out2 Good to know

  1. Max loss: static on 2-Step, trailing on 1-Step

    Strict

Equity, including open P&L, commissions and swaps, may never touch the max-loss line. On the 2-Step it sits at 90% of the initial balance for good. On the 1-Step it is recalculated at midnight Prague time as your highest midnight balance minus 10% of the initial balance. It only rises, does not stop at the starting balance, and resets only when a reward brings a new account.

    Example

A $100K 1-Step starts with the line at $90,000. Close one night at $104,000 and it moves to $94,000; a $103,000 close the next night leaves it at $94,000. On a $100K 2-Step the line stays at $90,000 however much you make.

  2. Maximum daily loss (hard breach)

    Strict

At midnight Prague time (6 a.m. Hong Kong/Taipei, 7 a.m. in winter) the day's floor is set at that balance minus 5% (2-Step) or 3% (1-Step) of the initial balance. Equity includes floating losses; touch the floor and the account fails. FTMO Futures Pro is also hard; Growth has a daily limit only once funded, and it only pauses you.

    Example

On a $100K 2-Step you start the day at $102,000, so equity may not touch $97,000 before midnight, open losses included. In the same position on a $100K 1-Step the floor is $99,000.

  3. 1-Step Best Day Rule (50%)

    Watch out

On the 1-Step challenge and before every reward, your best day (closed P&L) may not exceed 50% of the sum of all profitable days. Going over is not a breach, but you cannot pass or withdraw until it drops back. Splitting one trade idea across days, or hedging, to dodge the rule is a forbidden practice.

    Example

$100K 1-Step: Monday +$6,000, Tuesday +$3,000, small losses elsewhere. Profitable days total $9,000 and the best day is 67%. While Monday stays your best day, profitable days must reach $12,000 before you pass.

  4. News restriction (funded Standard accounts)

    Watch out

News is unrestricted during evaluations. On a funded Standard account you may not open or close trades on affected instruments from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after selected releases (NFP, CPI, FOMC, central-bank rates), and a stop-loss or take-profit filled in that window also counts. Positions opened earlier may be held. Swing accounts and FTMO Futures are exempt.

    Example

US CPI prints at 8:30 a.m. New York time. From 8:28 to 8:32 you may not open or close EURUSD, XAUUSD or US100, and a stop-loss filled in that window is also a breach. EURGBP is unaffected.

  5. Overnight and weekend holding

    Watch out

Evaluations may hold overnight and over weekends. On a funded Standard account you must close before the weekend and before any market break longer than 2 hours; Swing accounts are exempt. FTMO Futures never allows it: be flat with all orders cancelled by 4:10 p.m. New York time every day.

    Example

On a funded Standard account, a GBPUSD long held on Friday must be closed before the weekend close. On FTMO Futures, an NQ position still open at 4:10 p.m. New York time is liquidated by the platform, and FTMO says not to rely on that.

  6. FTMO Futures: end-of-day drawdown and daily loss

    Strict

At the start of each trading day (6 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. New York time) the line is your highest closing balance minus the drawdown amount. It only rises and locks for good once it reaches the starting balance. Equity touching it intraday fails the account. Pro's daily loss is hard; Growth has none in the evaluation and a soft, day-pausing one once funded.

    Example

Growth 50K: the line starts at $48,000. Close at $51,000 and it moves to $49,000; close at $52,500 and it locks at $50,000 for good. On Pro 50K, equity $1,000 below the day's opening balance ends the account.

  7. Forbidden trading practices

    Strict

Forbidden: exploiting price errors or delays, hedging across accounts (yours or others'), letting others trade for you or copying their trades, EAs sending over 2,000 server requests a day, sudden outsized positions, and gap trading — opening trades ahead of major news or earnings, or within 2 hours of a close lasting 2+ hours. This applies in evaluations too and can cost trades, rewards or the account.

    Example

If a market closes for the weekend at 23:00 on Friday, any new trade you open after 21:00 that evening counts as forbidden gap trading, on an evaluation account too.

  8. Inactivity and activation deadlines

    Good to know

Each CFD challenge phase must see its first trade within 30 days of being issued, or it is suspended. FTMO may end a challenge after 30 days with no trade, or after a loss of 8–10% sits for more than 30 days. FTMO Futures Sim-Funded accounts close after 30 days without trading.

  9. Account and capital limits

    Good to know

There is no limit on CFD account numbers, but 1-Step and 2-Step together are capped at $400,000 at once before scaling. Running an identical strategy across accounts above the cap can get them suspended, and extra registrations are not allowed. FTMO Futures evaluations are unlimited (each billed monthly); Sim-Funded accounts are capped at 3.

    Example

    You can hold a $200K 2-Step and a $200K 1-Step together; adding a $100K account would take you past the $400,000 cap.

Trading styles

  • News trading

    With conditions

Free in every evaluation, on Swing accounts and on FTMO Futures; funded Standard accounts may not open or close affected instruments 2 minutes either side of selected releases.

  • EAs / bots

    Allowed

EAs are allowed if the strategy would work live; over 2,000 server requests a day draws a warning, and a third-party EA shared with others can breach the capital cap.

  • Copy trading

    With conditions

Only your own strategy across your own accounts, within the capital cap; copying signals or letting someone else trade is forbidden.

  • Hedging

    With conditions

Hedging inside one account is fine; opposite positions across accounts, yours or anyone's, are forbidden.

  • Holding overnight

    With conditions

Allowed in evaluations and on Swing; funded Standard accounts must close before breaks longer than 2 hours; FTMO Futures must be flat by 4:10 p.m. New York time daily.

  • Holding over the weekend

    With conditions

Allowed in evaluations and on Swing; not on funded Standard accounts or FTMO Futures.

  • Scalping

    Allowed

No minimum holding time, but exploiting feed delays or latency is forbidden.

From Hong Kong or Taiwan

Neither Hong Kong nor Taiwan is on FTMO's CFD or Futures restricted list. CFD rewards reach HK/TW by bank wire or crypto; whether Visa Direct works depends on your card issuer. FTMO Futures pays only in USD via Wise, Revolut bank wire or card. CFD fees are charged in euros, so an HKD or TWD card may add a foreign-currency fee.

Can Hong Kong and Taiwan traders use FTMO?

Read from the firm's own list. A firm that bans Hong Kong or Taiwan is not listed on XSR at all.

Could not be confirmed on the firm's own pages

These are printed from recent third-party coverage. Confirm them with the firm before you buy.

  • CFD prices in USD are our conversion of FTMO's euro list prices at the ECB rate of 6 October 2026 (€1 = $1.1269). FTMO's checkout converts at its own live rate and sits behind a login, so the dollar figure you see will differ slightly.
  • FTMO prints no separate Swing price; third-party sources say it costs the same as Standard, which we could not confirm on FTMO's site.
  • That every CFD reward cycle after the first is also 14 days is our reading: FTMO only says claims open on the 14th day after the first trade on the account, and lists immediate withdrawals as a Supreme perk.
  • The $5-per-lot forex commission comes from FTMO's public symbol table, which does not say whether it is per side or round turn.
  • The FTMO Futures Sim-Funded contract scaling (2→5, 4→10, 6→15) appears once on the rules page; that it applies to both Growth and Pro is our reading.
